Three Visionary Artists

 Gathered at Hudson Community College, three visionary artists captured our imagination and expanded our perception of the world through their innovative and provocative works. Anna Ehrsam, Deborah Jack and Tricia McLaughlin, each in their own field, offered a captivating presentation that left an indelible imprint on our minds. As a New York-based interdisciplinary artist, Anna Ehrsam is a pioneer in the exploration of digital spaces and the perception of reality. Her recent works invite viewers to plunge into a world of experimentation where geometry, color, light, optics and sound combine in higher dimensions. Through documentaries, experimental videos, performances and installations, Ehrsam pushes the boundaries of digital art, offering viewers an immersive experience that transcends the boundaries of reality.

Based in St. Maarten and Jersey City, Deborah Jack is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of history, cultural memory, ecology and climate change. Through video/sound installations, photographs, paintings and texts, she invites us to reflect on the effects of storms and coastal erosion on our environment. Her commitment to ecological issues and her exploration of the intricacies of cultural memory make her work a significant contribution to our understanding of the world around us.

New York-based visual artist Tricia McLaughlin transports us into imaginary worlds through her works of animation, sculpture and painting. Her work explores themes of fantastic and impossible architecture, inviting us to contemplate their impact on potential inhabitants. A recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and the New York Foundation of the Arts, McLaughlin offers us a poetic vision of architecture and the human imagination.


In conclusion, the presentation of these three artists at Hudson Community College was an enriching and inspiring experience.  This week, we ventured into the artistic maze of the contemporary MANA Museum, a jewel nestled in the heart of the city. Armed with curiosity and anticipation, I dove headfirst into a world where artistic expression comes in all its forms. From the moment I stepped inside, my senses were in turmoil.   In the whirlwind of lights and ideas that animates the Nuit des Idées, I had the privilege of slipping behind the lens to capture the vibrant energy of this artistic and cultural event originating in France. Organized by the Villa Albertine at Hudson Community College, the evening promised total immersion in the world of art, thought and innovation. As a photographer, my mission was clear: to capture every moment, every emotion, and convey the very essence of this celebration of creativity. As the sun slowly set over the horizon, excitement rose in the air. Final preparations were underway, artists were fine-tuning their installations, speakers were fine-tuning their speeches, and visitors were pouring in, eager to discover what the night had in store for them.
